What We Do

Every fourth Saturday of the month and during special workdays, we engage in various conservation activities. These include cutting and removing buckthorn and other invasive species, arranging and burning brush piles, applying herbicide, and planting native species including trees, shrubs and flowers.

Given the prevalence of buckthorn in our area, we’ve coined a catchy phrase 'Buckthorn Stops Here" to highlight our efforts.

Why We Do It

Our mission is to restore ecological health and transform the area into a habitat cherished by birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife essential to our ecosystem. Through this work, we also gain valuable knowledge about the environment and develop interpersonal skills such as teamwork and camaraderie.

How To Get Involved

If you're interested you can complete the Volunteer Interest Form on the LCFP website. For more info on the process, check out the LCFP website. Or contact the Site Stewards with any questions:

Al Hall, 847-209-8381
Scott Pacatte, 847-630-3084

A waiver form can be completed on or before the workday. However, the waiver needs to be signed by a legal guardian when the volunteer is under 18 years of age.
